Purpose
In order to minimize the risk of child maltreatment in youth programs, program directors at coordinators must select the most appropriate staff and volunteers to work with youth. This program for MSU Youth Program Directors and Coordinators will provide an overview of practices for behavioral interviewing that can help raise red flags about behaviors that may indicate the potential for child maltreatment.
Advanced registration is required by Wednesday, July 11.
Intended Audience
While this development program is intended for MSU Youth Program Directors and Coordinators, Assistant Directors and Assistant Coordinators are also welcome to attend.
Outcomes
As a result of attending this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify common grooming behaviors used by child maltreatment offenders
- Identify appropriate behavioral interview questions that raise red flags about grooming behaviors
- Create a structural interview guide
- Conduct a behavioral interview
- Address questions with campus experts
