Update on March 11, 2020:

Thank you for your interest in attending the 2020 Youth Protection Workshop.

In the interest of health and safety, and following guidelines on institutional large events, the 2020 Youth Protection Workshop scheduled for March 19 has been canceled.

However, we plan to host this event on a later date after it has been determined safe to gather as a large group.

In the coming weeks, arrangements will be made to reschedule this event, and once plans have been finalized, details and an updated registration form will be announced.

In support of that goal, the 2020 Youth Protection Workshop will feature discussions, activities, and presentations with campus experts on topics related to bullying and cyberbullying in University youth programs and activities.

Note: This event is not intended to provide an introduction to the Operational Requirements for Conducting University Youth Programs. To receive that information, please attend the "Orientation for MSU Youth Program Directors and Coordinators" event.

Program Outcomes:

At the close of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify trends related to bullying in youth programming contexts;
  • Identify signs of bullying;
  • Identify signs of cyberbullying;
  • Respond to behavioral concerns;
  • Support youth affected by bullying;
  • Address their questions with campus experts; and
  • Implement strategies for promoting an equitable learning environment.

Intended Audience:

Although this program is designed primarily for MSU Youth Program Directors and Coordinators, individuals who supervise MSU Youth Program Directors, those who plan to serve as Program Directors in the future, and members of the MSU community who are interested in bullying prevention and response are welcome to attend.

Lunch, light refreshments, and on-site parking validation will be provided.
